okay, what we got here is a pretty flashy and cheesy movie. it at first looked quite promising, all the beautiful night scenes of Shanghai, nicely shot. then the screenplay was totally turned into a stupid junk. we saw the female cab driver hit the Japanese young man, and almost killed him.
the accident scene then immediately became the start point of a doomed farce. she hit the man at high speed, crashed him into air and fell down on the hood of her taxi and knocked him cold. at that speed, he didn't even got a scratch, no broken bones, broken legs, arms or ribs, his pants and jacket didn't even torn apart or shredded by the impact. how in the world possible? the impact and the concussion must be very serious, but he just lost consciousness about 50 seconds, then came out of it and shook himself with Michael Jackson's robotic moon walk. what a stupid scenario!
then she offered him a FREE ride to tour the night of shanghai, because she felt guilty and lucky hitting him but not hurting him at all. we must remember this offer clearly.
then came the 2nd unacceptable and ridiculous twist of the storyline. after the female cab driver received a call from her dream lover telling her that he would get married tomorrow, and that's the reason he wanted to borrow her taxi. she felt heart broken after this call. so she suddenly decided to dump the Japanese she hit and forced him to pay for the ride. okay, what we got here was what? the young woman might have suffered a sudden memory loss? or was it because the screenplay writer also suffered the same memory loss when he wrote the screenplay, and couldn't remember he just wrote the script of making the female cab driver offered him a free tour ride? these two big ridiculous flaws just completely turned me off.
the screenplay has become more and more ridiculous and trashy step by step, dragged along with lot of boring and childish scenes. you have to bite the teeth and lock up your jaws to sit through the whole crappy junk. yeah, you can always tell me, "hey, hey, hey, relax, it's just a comedy, don't take it too seriously, dude." but i have to tell you this too: 'there are smart comedies, and there are stupid comedies; and only the smart comedies could make me relax.' bad comedies only make me feel stupid, embarrassed and nauseous.
