Hefei is a beautiful city for traveling. And in 1998, Hefei was assessed as an excellent national tourist city.Now, I'd like to give you a city riddle. Listen carefully, please: two fat men embrace. Do you know the answer? Aha, it's Hefei. Perhaps you could feel strange: why are you and these people so slim? OK, forget that please, it's just a joke. In fact, many years ago, there are two rivers connected here, one named Dongfeihe River, the other named Nan Feihe River. So people called the area"Hefei"
Besides, Hefei is one of the first three national garden cities approved by the state. The culture of Hefei is very rich as well. Here is many celebrities' hometown, such as Baozheng,Li Hongzhang, Liu Mingchuan,Yang Zhenning and so on.
It's quite sunny, a nice day, isn't it ?OK, let's begin to visit Li Hongzhang's Former Residence. It lies in the the midsection of Pedestrain Street in the center of Hefei. It was built at the end of 19th century. Becuse of its big scale, it has "Li Fu half a street " saying at that time.
Now,allow me to introduce Li Hongzhang simply. He was born in Hefei in the year of 1823 and died in 1901. Mr.Li is one of the most disputable personages in China morden history, and produced a very great influence on politics, economy , foreign policy and so on. In 1960th, the westernization movement started. Li Hongzhang was the main leader. They studied advanced technology from western countries in order to strengthen our country and resist the external aggression . The movement had influence in two aspets. First, it limited weatern economy expanse in China to some degree. What's more, it promoted the social productive development and opened the Chinese modernization prologue.
Days ago. I heard an interesting story. One day, Li Hongzhang invited some foreogners for dinner and prepared many delisicous Chinese foods. Because the food was so delisicous, they were soon eaten up. Then, a foreign friend asked:"Excuse me, Mr.Li, is there anything more?" Li Hongzhang answered:" Sure, wait a moment, please!" and then he left to the kitchen. But the cook said :" I'm sorry, there is no food. Those are made at the noon." We Chinese nation is a nation of etiquette. What should I do now? Li Hongzhang was very worried. then he looked at those food, finding that they are still very fresh. So he put them into a beautiful dish. When the visitors began to tast he felt quite anxiouly. Luckoly, they said:" Aha, how wanderful! What's this?" Mr.Li didn't smile until then. A after a few minutes later, he replied: Li Hongzhang Hotchpotch.
From then on , Li Hongzhang Hotchpotch became famous. It's said that: In the overseas, if Chinese live in the city, there must has Chinese dining room; and if there is Chinese dining room in the city, you will certainly find Li Hongzhang Hotchpotch .My dear friends, could you tell me is that true?
