Abstract

Examination-oriented education has conceptually and theoretically given way to quality-oriented education in many places, but still students are frequently seen heavily packed with endless homework in their spare time. They have no time to get enough extensive readings. They have to work day and night for the grades to pass examinations one after another. Comprehensive and integrated skills and abilities for social life are commonly ignored. Most students have become the machine for storing information crammed by the teachers. There is no reason to expect the innovative ability yielded from such education. Among other reasons, the lack of a convincing model of teaching and learning applied in a large scale in China is apparent to the failure of releasing students from the tedious work for the life-long overall development. And this is where a new model---this hypothesis--- steps in.
Language embodies literature. Learning activities concerning the particular literature is the choice of the target language learning. According to the new theory of SLA------Dialogical Theory (Jia Guanjie, 2005), the acquisition of the target language is reached through various interactions in a particular situations. Therefore, this study focuses on the real life and tries to bring life to class and enables the learners exposed in the target language to communicate during which learners’ further need will be activated and the intrinsic power will be started which will enable them to be autonomy learners.
Based on Vygotsky’s the Proximal Developing Zone Theory, the input of the target language should adhere to the i+1 principle. It stands for the previous knowledge while 1 refers to the knowledge which is slightly above the learner’s previous acknowledgement. Thus, this hypothesis stresses a step-by-step learning process.
Both Krashen’s Monitor Model and Bialystok’s insights about the SLA put the knowledge of second language into two parts: explicit knowledge and implicit knowledge. The former refers to the consciously displayed knowledge and the task of learning these languages is to learn the language structures. Meanwhile, the implicit language has two categories: formulaic knowledge and knowledge based on language rules. Both are used unconsciously by the learners. Explicit knowledge is regarded as the learner knowledge and implicit knowledge is acquired knowledge. Although Krashen’s non-interface view does not show the possibility of the exchanging between the two kinds of knowledge, Bialystok thinks it possible to exchange the explicit knowledge into implicit knowledge. That is to say, formulaic speech exercises help make the exchange come true. Behavioralism stresses the stimuli, reflection and reinforcement. And it also thinks that the learning of a second language is a formation of a new habit. This seems to have offered the proof for Bialystiok’s view that the explicit knowledge can be changed into implicit knowledge. With these ideas, this hypothesis hopes the learners to learn through formulaic speech in the forms of performance and display------ to perform what they have gained and display what they have obtained. And this might lead to the more and more fluency and a better need for further learning.
Foreign language teaching and learning is a systematic project. Yang Zhong(1995: 220 Adapted from Xia Jimei (2003:30)) thinks that foreign language teaching and learning covers four parts: 1. External structure (Teaching syllables, text courses, teaching methodology and teachers); 2. Internal structure (learners’ physical elements and psychological elements as well as cognition elements); 3. Negative Estimation (test); 4. Environment.
Xia Jimei (2003:30) thinks that Yang’s internal and external structures are not only contract to each other, but congenial as well. Besides that, a refined, comprehensive and systematic efficiency is what to purchase.
